Windows cannot start during automatic repair - Microsoft Community


windows said encountered disk errors, asked reboot repair them.

during startup said "preparing automatic repair", "pc did not start correctly".

in windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt last lines are:

test performed:

name: check pending package install

result: completed successfully. error code = 0x2

time taken = 1203 ms

i cannot run in safe mode; cannot reset, cannot system restore, cannot startup repair etc.

all on clean system. reinstalled few days ago. time error in srttrail.txt  was 0x4.

it looks cyclic dependency. repair tried steps on reboot, there pending package install, cannot installed without repairing.

what's problem? possible solve without reinstalling windows?

$AV_ASW folder - Microsoft Community

dear all, lately i've found folder in both c: , d:, named $av_asw. inside there vault folder , within folder, db file can't open notepad or ms access. idea on this? i've tried googling gave me avast instead, however, i've used avast more 3 years now, no such file exist before. virus or bug or malware or whatever? please advice. thanks! what name of file? sounds avasts vault put potentially unwanted or infected files prevent them doing harm.
