Is it worth using Bitlocker on your data partition? - Microsoft Community

i bitlock external hard-drives , sd card use expand windows 10 surface book memory. these contain sensitive information, not happy if of them stolen. unlock automatically when connected computer. computer boot password protected, hope thief unable access either data drive or external drives. have 2 questions, both (i hope) answered:

1. should encrypt data partition on hard-drive? ie, thief remove drive , access data partition attaching drive computer if not encrypted? or boot password still give protection?

2. how easy bypass boot password, , access data partition is not bitlocked @ present? eg, booting flash drive or cracking password. if easy, guess should maintain bitlocker password protection on data partition (ie, not unlock automatically).

bitlocker worth because helps mitigate unauthorized data access enhancing file , system protections. also, helps render data inaccessible when bitlocker-protected computers decommissioned or recycled.
