Confused by latest Defender on Windows 10 Creators update 2017 - Microsoft Community

confused settings defender on latest windows 10 creators update, , appreciate clarification.
not new layout of defender, seems duplicate choices.

have ssd c drive, hdd d drive, plus plug in external usb drive well.

aims
want :

1.  clarify whether there 3 types of scan i.e.

    (a) quick , not particularly thourough scan checks 'main places' on drives

    (b) thorough in depth scan takes longer (- , include 'in use' files or rootkit detection?)

    (c) defender offline scan

2.  clarify full scan means on defender choices.

3.  confirm/clarify whether, after thorough in depth scan, defender notes files have been scanned, , not rescan them again unless there change file. e.g. checksum change

4.  clarify need click on if want indepth scan of drives c, d not external drive. have 2 seperate scans - 1 c , 1 d?

5.  clarify whether there method setting time indepth scan in (4) run.

6.  clarify whether can pause scan , 'carry on unscanned files' @ later time.

7.  far have not had malware detected. clear message either during or after overnight scan,  show malware has been detected? 

8.  can false positives or other files have been detected , quarantined restored to place came from - or restoration not possible?

you don’t need security expert secure device , understand protections have in place. in windows 10 creators update, new windows defender security center make easy customers view , manage security protections, device health , family settings in centralized location in windows 10.

here information clarify concerns:

1. there 3 types of advanced scans in windows defender. please see details below:
   •  full scan - check files , running programs on hard disk. scan take longer 1 hour.
   •  customer scan - choose files , locations want check.
   •  windows defender offline scan - malicious software can particularly difficult remove device. windows defender offline can find , remove them using up-to-date definitions. restart device , take 15 minutes.
   
   
2. full scan on defender choices scan made on database each row of table under scan read in sequential (serial) order , columns encounter checked validity of condition. slowest method of scanning due heavy amount of i/o reads required.
   
   
3. yes, not ask again scan files you've scanned before unless there change files or if system detects issue on files itself. device keep safe.
   
   
4.  you need separate scan if don't want perform scan on external drive. can choose custom scan have option check files.
   
   
5. there no time settings when performing full scan on pc.
   
   
6. the option have there start scan , cancel it. there no option pause it.
   
   
7. the system notify if there's malware detected on pc. shows notification.
   
   
8. when first open windows defender security center, you’ll see clear message protection status of device, along information about:
   

• when device last scanned threats.
• the last time definition files, used check threats, updated.
• the last time health of device checked.
