My icons are gone and big blue boxes appear when I try to create new - Microsoft Community

              wife on computer doing knows what, when return next day , it's different computer. of desktop icons missing, when try add new ones, adds in form of large blue box icon inside, click add desktop icon , nothing happens. apparently few icons have managed add in "group" , can rename group if wish. if info helps determine issue.

              weird thing is, lets have downloader minimized; when go on task bar , hover on minimized downloader ( or application matter) little box appears next normal displays pop if click it. when move mouse hover on actual image of small box appeared, old icons back! while hover on tiny display box. when move mouse away, gone , new layout back... ikr !!?!

              weird thing cannot right-click on desktop. empty space no icons , when right click, absolutely nothing happens @ all. no little menu pops up.

              i've tried searching answer, many people have had icons go missing can't find else exact problem nor solution works able have normal icons on desktop again. it's weird because when see them split second when hover on task bar application tiny display box when hover on active application, makes me think weird setting or program running , need figure out how disable have of old,normal icons reappear.

              i'm pretty savvy in fixing problems 1 has been stumping me quite sometime. appreciated, thank you!

edit: appears these blue boxes have icons in them, "pinned start." when tell program "pin start," when show icons used be. when choose "create desktop icon," nothing happens. apparently these new "icons" extension of start menu, hope helps. c:
