Window update destoryed my computer - Microsoft Community
last week mar 20, computer told me had restart computer update device (a 4 yr old dell xps 8500 had win 8 on it) , when did installed windows 10 updates , rebooted. when came 1 of hard drives missing file manager. i thought best thing turn off , reboot it. when did came black screen , message "start pxe on ipv4". i researched (with computer) , found boot order problem. i went bios (many times) , reset boot order never change altho drives did show in bios boot order. i tried boot bios, tried using f12 key supposed change boot order...nothing worked. the next day called dell service (big mistake!) , on phone on 2 hours, , had me tapping keys bios, tried changing something, restarted it, , trying boot again. time hard drives not showing in bios order. of course nothing worked , during 1 of numerous tries changes in bios, monitor stopped working! the dell tech told me without monitor couldn't , have find locally , hung on me!
so have computer won't boot, monitor won't work (i tried on computer , worked perfectly) i'm dead in water, can't computer, it's trashed , bad window update! have suggestions?

ok, if have graphics card in your dell xps 8500, remove motherboard , try plugging monitor graphics output on motherboard see if can monitor working
then if can see doing, please complete following:
press f12 , run dell diagnostics check hardware
press f2 go bios , click restore defaults
go boot options in bios , disable pxe boot
in boot options move primary hard drive top of boot order
save bios settings , reboot
if system still not start, press f2 bios
change sata mode, if set ahci, change or vice versa
save changes , see if system boots
