Win 10 Admin account is extremely limited, asking for another - Microsoft Community


assigned administrator permissions friend/room mate on non-networked (other connection router internet) home pc. users sign in locally. friend can modify/save/delete files system asks original admin password, account, each time wants install program, open programs , pretty basic stuff change control panel settings. 

don't want have this, , honestly, defeats purpose of having password if have give every user wants change setting or install app. how can assign full admin rights, ones have? difference see in "users..." account says "my name, local account, administrator, password protected" , her's says "her name, *** email address removed privacy ***, administrator, password protected".

extremely frustrating. please help! thanks!

if account administrator account, should have full administrator access. occasionally, these settings not reflected throughout computer , requires reinforcing. here's can do:

1) change account type via netplwiz.

  • while logged on account, press windows + r, type netplwiz, , press enter.
  • select user account, , click properties. if option greyed out, check box beside users must enter user name , password enter computer.
  • go group membership , assign administrator.
  • click apply.

note: please see if there third-party security programs on computer known cause issues such this.

after doing so, should able install programs without trouble. otherwise, please let know , we'll continue help.
