View Windows lock file on Excel - Microsoft Community


cryptic subject line.  let me explain.  when open excel file in excel, windows creates small lock file same name has ~$ prepended on it.  see file uncheck hide system files in folder options.  in windows 7, win 10 - v1511 can open file in notepad , see user name has file open.  in win 10 v1607 no longer allows view file.  have used technique in excel , word vba addins let users know has network file open.  there setting or technique can use view file.

WTouch_Message_Window app running in the background is preventing - Microsoft Community

Windows error No Certificate Available - Microsoft Community
