is there difference between microsoft account , outlook.com account?

not overly happy idea of having browsing movements checked, prefer use local account on windows 10 pc.  i have begun use 1 drive.  i tired of having sign in outlook.com account every time  want access 1 drive.  when close browser, signed out.  so opted sign in using microsoft account, , see if keep 1 drive open.  but no such luck.  i pass first pane, , told "we need password 1 more time.  i use same password in previous pane, , told password incorrect.

the thing out altogether , start again.  all want sign device have (hopefully!) consistent access 1 drive.  i not care apps , cortana , bloatware , games.

coming pane asks me enter "password 1 more time", see option skip , go next.  no chance.  windows absolutely won't let me go there.  i cannot sign own device.  all can think there difference between outlook.com account , windows account.  i can go distance using outlook email address , password not past next step.

all want sign device.  as far remember, personal computer.

what happened simple click bottom left switch user?

all want sign device, , quicker quirky 1 drive - different kettle of stinking fish itself.  even if means every keystroke registered somewhere in cyberspace, , emails reflect adverts stuff read not interested buy.

it's possible credentials not being saved automatically whenever login onedrive.com due browser settings. we'd learn more concern can provide proper resolution. have few questions you: 

• can sign-in built-in onedrive application on computer without problems? 

• which browser using access onedrive.com? 

• what troubleshooting steps have tried far? 

• when go onedrive.com, see "keep me signed in" option 1 in picture below? 

regarding question microsoft accounts, outlook.com email accounts microsoft accounts. however, users can have microsoft account not use outlook email address, , can have local user account on computer isn't connected microsoft account. since said you're using local user account when log in computer, have use password local account instead of password outlook.com account, unless used same password both of them. if that, should able log in computer without problems. have option convert local account microsoft account , use outlook.com credentials log in computer following steps in this article. choose sign in on windows 10 drop-down.
