Windows 10 Default StartLayout Folder Icons Always removed - Microsoft Community

so have worked out how customize windows 10 start menu , use powershell import default users or new users start menu set using following commands , editing defaultlayout.xml:

#export start layout , customize
export-startlayout -path $env:userprofile\desktop\defaultlayouts.xml

#import new start layout
import-startlayout -layoutpath $env:userprofile\desktop\defaultlayouts.xml -mountpath $env:systemdrive\

no matter have tried can not folder shortcuts work , have tried every idea can find or think of when create new user , login folder shortcuts gone , if export layout new user missing entire line of code folder icons no others. starting think windws 10 not allow use folder icons makes no sense @ all, why bother start menu customizaion if can't put documents shortcuts in there since can create universal links profile folders using "%userprofile%\documents" ink shortcuts. unless of course thinking mobile , tablet users , didn't care @ desktop users seemed when windows 8.0 came out :p

per microsofts recommendation copy ink files documents etc correct folders:

"if added tiles require .url or .lnk files, add .url , .lnk files following start menu directories:

%appdata%\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\

%allusersprofile%\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\
"

customized start menu xml:
