Window 10 Administrator Account Not Available - Microsoft Community

i attempted assign new password existing administrator account today , failed work.  reset password twice via microsoft reset process, received code, reset password, , still not work.

to make matters worse other administrator account, working, apparently changed standard user.  account type not showing , can not changed.  can't access command prompt (admin).

how can recover working password recognized admin account or change user account admin account.

the account local account , have no idea why password assigned failed work, more disconcerting fact other existing administrator account rendered standard account @ time password assigned.   windows 10 real mystery me , after research on matter came conclusion either mystery microsoft programmers or that there is very little interest in providing support account access problems.

so, if there may others similar problems, here how solved problem.  not simple nor ideal did allow me continued use of laptop minimal loss of files/data.  solution find within microsoft settings (i.e., not "hack" or use of third party software) that did not require entry of an existing administrator account password, including attempt perform a "clean install" , as recommended elsewhere.

i was able follow prompts reset computer an existing restoration point recently made relative to my windows 10 accounts blow-up.

my advice, make recovery usb drives , restoration points frequently
