Windows freezes randomly, then freezes during loading on a hard reset - Microsoft Community

since november 1, 2016, computer has been randomly freezing, forcing me perform hard reset. however, after performing reset, hang on loading screen, or loading screen not show @ all. while have been able afterwards, haven't figured out consistent method of doing so, though try system restores, chkdsk, , running in safe mode.

according windows defender, isn't result of virus, , running sfc reveals nothing.

system maintenance.

-----------------------------------------------------

windows key + x - command prompt (admin)

sfc /scannow

note if shows uncorrected errors - below regardless.

when completes run these :

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

restart computer.

sure running latest available bios , drivers.

check system maker (motherboard maker custom systems) updates
to the bios, low level chipset drivers, , the major on-board , separate
device
drivers. run driverview - set view hide microsoft drivers - update
without dump in their name.

driverview - free - utility displays list of device drivers loaded
on your system. each driver in list, additional useful information
displayed: load address of driver, description, version, product name,
company created driver, and more.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

drivers check system maker fallbacks , device maker's
most current. control panel - device manager - display adapter - write down
make and complete model of video adapter - double click - driver's

ms far behind certifying drivers) - right click - uninstall -
reboot refresh driver stack.

if 3rd party own software , drivers , other major device drivers
you have.

go system maker's site (dell, hp, toshiba examples) (as rollback) and
then device maker's site (realtek, intel, nvidia, ati examples) ,
latest versions. (look bios, chipset, and software updates @ system maker's
site while there.)

download - save - go put them - right click - run ad admin -
reboot after each installation.

check in device manager - drivers tab sure version
installing actually shows up. because drivers rollback before
latest installed (sound drivers particularly this) install driver - reboot
- check sure is installed , repeat needed.

repeat @ device makers - btw at device makers not run scanner -
heck manually model.

manually @ manufacturer's sites drivers - , device maker's sites.
