Pop up window saying my computer has been taken over - Microsoft Community

i thought having bought new laptop windows , macafee protection keep happening!

moved virus & malware

afaik, no security can stop these yet.

it's common scam. click ok button @ bottom of popup. should see box not allow site create new messages. check , close window.

for edge, user scott_ki has provided solution.

close microsoft edge using task manager. in search bar next windows 10 logo on bottom off screen (i call "cortana search"), typed in google.com , hit enter.

microsoft edge opened new tab google.  can see offending site still opens in tab doesn't have focus.  click "x" close edge. not click on offending site tab or focus again.

when edge closes nicely, won't "restore" sessions , offending site tab gone.

if not resolve it, use task manager exit browser. reboot , see if pop-up goes away.

how use new task manager.
