Problem with hibernation - Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

whenever put laptop hibernate, screen goes black doesn't switch off properly. effectively, stays running , draining power. have hp pavillion laptop goes automatically hibernate when goes past 10% battery, goes half-hibernate, battery drains. have plug in , charge use again. however, laptop resumes if this.

however, can't running without screen, because i've found can force proper hibernate looking @ wifi button. when turns blue orange, can hold down power button , shut off forcefully, creates hibernation-like state laptop resumes when power again. 

i'm incredibly confused. can give whatever technical or software details necessary. can't find anywhere else online details problem.

• when did start experiencing issue?
• what troubleshooting steps have done far?
