hi,

i know issue has been posted in past. have read many posts on forum , others. none of solutions have tried solved issues having. have been on chat ms support 4 times , "next level" support via phone once. dell support far better ms concluded need reimage system. (not goal if possible)

computer: dell precision tower 5810

os: windows 10 pro (up date of thursday, 2/9/2017)

hard drive: 4tb seagate

what else important know?

problem: (as described in subject) restarted computer @ end of day thursday. came next morning , not log in. i not , still cannot past windows recovery environment.

i have tried:

1. automatic repair, multiple times multiple restarts.

2. repairing usb current installation media ms. (and formatted , re-downloaded media files few times)

3. ran bootrec, bootsect, chkdsk, sfc in command prompt

4. volume list correct (i believe)

5. cloned hard drive new hard drive

6. bios seeing drive

7. believe have tried of buttons under troubleshooting (and advanced button) in windows re. cannot repair, reset, recover, etc. says can't basically. it's if can't find os.

8. tried booting usb, clicking "install now" "upgrade." window pops says "compatability report" , under says "the computer started using windows installation media. remove installation media , restart computer windows starts normally..."

9. have not tried custom install.

10. cannot restart in safe mode or restart options available startup settings.

i @ point. ideal goal windows , keep files. easy me clone working hard drive working os , start on way. i'd keep on drive if possible.

thanks , help!

hi,

you might check in bios make sure boot sequence correct...

it may need set efi partition or windows boot, or similar, instead of c:\...

sometimes major date, "recovery" partition added... 400mb or so..

this or else may have messed boot sequence...
