Windows 10 Incorrect Username and Password on Shutdown - Microsoft Community

helping friend pc.  can log pc no worries using microsoft account , works fine.  when try shutdown pc screen goes black bit and comes "the user name or password incorrect. try again."  when click sign in sort of shows 2 accounts (see picture).  if leave sit , times out, when go in goes normal log-in screen 1 account.

shutdown attempts screen same thing.

i thought there may have been local account in background tried looking @ options , can ever find 1 account microsoft account details  when puts name in username i've changed microsoft email details , logs in fine, but same thing shutting down.  log in with name , same password.

i've tried searching online , through forums can find issues loggin in, or multiple users.  nothing issue on shutting down password / username issue.

i've checked power options , seem fine, held power button in force shutdown , restarted , removed/replaced battery.

the machine restart ok , updates , restart, won't shutdown properly.

they have not created reset password disk.

any suggestions?

if windows, click on start, click on gear icon in lower left. takes settings, click on accounts, click on manage microsoft account.
