Windows 10 login - Until 4 hours ago I had a SEPARATE password to log - Microsoft Community

i have had laptop shy of year. when set up, found way make account on laptop linked microsoft account let me use different password log computer. preferable have 8 year old rather not have overall microsoft account pw. want password on laptop, not email password. want account stay logged microsoft account seeing that's account have linked our xbox 1 , regular pc, , sons minecraft game on account.

as of 4.5 hours ago, logged onto computer using separate password, shorter 1 sake of kiddo. half hour later went log in again after picked him school, , told me wrong password, on , over. tried microsoft pw , logged me in.

i not want change local account! never local account, linked across pc , laptop , xb. want way! want use different password log laptop. not change account type. not unlink microsoft account.

background - have been windows user since 10. 1991. kid not. have experience every windows version except 8 , 8.1. upgraded 7 10 , haven't had issues until this.

i tried asking fellow nerds seem reading half of i'm complaining about....

which beyond frustrating.

any ideas!?

separate password log onto laptop, still logged microsoft account. 2 different passwords. 1 ms account , 1 laptop. not local account.

you cannot have separate/different password when it's linked local account (although opt use pin number instead of full password, in case that's "different" in way).

otherwise, have no choice.  it's never been possible have other way. if somehow figured out way year ago, alone in that.
