Can't access Advanced Boot Options because of Windows Defender - Microsoft Community

want access advanced boot options restore system restore point. pressing f8 on boot gives me boot menu, since have asus motherboard, press esc , press f8 again immediality after. result windows defender offline, exiting program rebooted system. , no, can't access windows, black screen cursor appears before login. black screen may happened because of gpedit.msc policy change. believe it's reason since when made change, couldn't open file explorer, said like: "you can't open file, folder. not have permission." , rebooted , ended problem. i've tried cut power when it's booted cause starts advanced boot options on boot, didn't work, gave me windows defender offline.

can't access windows, black screen cursor appears before login.

that "lock" screen.  in order dismiss may have press ctrl-alt-delete , bring login prompt.  however, have found lock screen can start narrator win-enter.  doing may navigate further in "darkness".  note if can login prompt should find @ bottom right power menu can use  shift-restart.   (pressing shift- while clicking menu item key getting advanced boot options menu after restart.)

a related possibility attach second monitor , see if there showing on it.  e.g. common "blank" screen @ boot scenario video system mistakenly displays necessary details on phantom monitor , leaves real monitor blank, if handling extended display.  in case has been possible press win-p, cursorup, enter; e.g., if imagining project dialog being rendered on phantom monitor used via keyboard.  have done login prompt (or later).   used mere pressing down of win- key enough switch state showing lock screen showing login screen; that's why have worked general procedure.  unfortunately, lately seems pressing win- key not enough dismiss unlocked lock screen; may have else such press cursorup first.

windows 10.  still adventure ("twisty passages, different.")

good luck
