about 4 hours ago had performed windows update (there none , indicated device date) , restarted notebook , ran problems there persistent message windows in updating rotating dots , not turn off computer. this persisted more 30 minutes. the computer powered down. at boot indicated windows did not shut down , booted log on screen. the windows password entered , opened desk top.
so far there no new performance problems.
for months there 2 windows updates had failed install , yesterday both installed. windows updates running smoothly day today , had indicated there no new updates other windows defender. these updated smoothly windows updates.

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ran. it progressed 14.9% , displayed error 1392. the file or directory corrupted or unreadable.
