lost desktop and icons - Microsoft Community


after update on windows 10 no longer have desktop screen icons.  when windows opens shows quick access items, cannot desktop screen.  have listing of items in desktop  through pc list showing documents, libraries, downloads, etc.  attempted backdoor solution restoring trash icon through themes doesnt show anywhere.  restore point used before update did not restore desktop--it kept quick access page.

this issue occurs due corruption of files. understand causes issue, know if made modifications/configurations on computer after updated windows.

for initial troubleshooting, can run windows update troubleshooter.

WTouch_Message_Window app running in the background is preventing - Microsoft Community
