a while back, windows 10 stopped recognising had sound device installed. did googling , discovered problem above in subject line. in services panel, waeb listed 'starting' never gets further. tried disabling , restarting - no luck. checked other relevant services - else running fine. uninstalled , reinstalled sound device drivers - no change. saw on 1 post problem had been graphics card bought new 1 (mine old anyway) - no difference. ran system file checker scan - no integrity violations found. read somewhere people had had success rolling windows 8.1 - tried reason, installation fails part-way through.
so i'm totally @ loss. can offer other possible solutions? i'm wondering if might motherboard sound driver - company (asrock) says board windows 10 compatible last sound driver update in 2015, i'm not sure.
