hey everyone,

i wanted replace low battery chime default windows 1 custom 1 using normal sounds->program event method. when done, pressed apply , saved custom sound profile. worked nicely. problem comes when reboot, system reverts original sound profile stock chime. i'm using local account, should eliminate windows sync-settings issues. have idea what's up?

initial reply: try regedit

you can try steps found here:

please becareful steps may require reg edit.

sadly solution did not work. had tried besides regedit, that's did time. went in , edited wanted. once again, worked fine initially, when reboot system .current registry changed default chime. if i'd grateful!

hey, figured out.

two steps:

first, make sure replacement wav file name doesn't have spaces in it.

second, go regedit after reboot. under alert you've been trying edit, @ current tab. if you're having problem did, have reverted original default windows sound. click modify don't modify anything. instead, @ file path , write down. exit out of regedit without having modified anything. open file explorer , navigate file computer keeps restoring in spite of better wishes. take wav file want replace default sound with, place in same file folder default wav, , rename exact same thing. (windows might append number onto replacement, in case, add string of letters or original default , remove number replacement wav.) if has gone well, have worked , still have default wav in case ever want change original sound file. (i named mine 'chime og') hope helpful, sorry didn't add screenshots.

all best,

xx
