Scam??? - Microsoft Community
wednesday opened surface pro 4 pro find message microsoft not use internet before calling number below, stating network had been compromised virus??
it looked real, called , tech on me on hour. said had virus, took control of computer , watched "removed issue" , explained windows defender protects lap top not network. didn't realize had network. have desktop computer cox.net email, iphone hotmail acct. surface shows both email accounts, assume how created network?
the tech said problem fixed had purchase network security keep happening again. put ccleaner on surface , gave him visa info 7 months covered. said receipt come email. nothing has arrived, friday am, , i'm concerned scam. the info below posted in the notepad on surface.
please help?

if "browser hijack' use task manager end task browser, not restore session, when reopen browser. never call phone number pops on computer.

after allowing untrusted individual(s) direct/remote access computer tech support scam, should reset(remove everything) or clean install recovery media from microsoft; change passwords safe device (or 1 after clean install), talk fraud dept of financial institution report them , recover money, if spent (tell them scammed fake tech support scam), and watch bank acct(s) & credit cards closely.
know subscribed to, scammer! and make sure cancel & report financial institution(s), credit card(s) may have used.

change default login password (not wireless key), on router (from trusted device, or 1 after reset).
