Creators update results in fuzzy fonts - Microsoft Community

four days ago laptop (gigabyte p34w-v5 1920x10080) did creators update (cu). afterwards, font rendering on external display (acer b326hul 2560x1440) fuzzy can hardly read them (laptop screen fine). fonts, desktop icons, apps, browsers, , icons?? in task bar fuzzy. searched problem, tried few things, nothing worked, backed out of update , fine again, downloaded creators update again , keeps pestering me install it. turned off cleartype, turned on again , went through steps, nothing work. so, used online support 3 times:

1) tech said non-microsoft (ms) service problem, , 50% chance kaspersky. so, reinstalled cu, uninstalled kaspersky, , clean booted ms services see causing problem. no improvement non-ms services disabled, drawing board. tech suggested rollback cu , disable updates, has  many security problems me accept.

2) next tech said incompatible driver problem. updated nvidia drivers, intel drivers, displaylink drivers, , switched direct hdmi rather displaylink (usb). no improvement.

3) tried again morning, tech said wanted latest nvidia drivers, said there, , needed go meeting. re-installed nvidia drivers in case, no improvement.

so, have expensive laptop , monitor, display looks worse 90's vga (although @ higher resolution). 

i very, unhappy latest , greatest win10 leaves me unusable system, , nobody has fix. have idea?

i happy able answer own question, don't ask me why works, have no idea.

i getting pretty irritated squinting @ monitor trying make our text, when thought "let me drop down 2560x1440 1920x1080 , see how looks". tried, looked better lost lot of on screen real estate. tried each of higher res settings in turn, of them losing sides of screen because of change in aspect ratio, , when 2560x1440 reason sharp , clear.

i rebooted make sure effect permanent, , still looks good. 

anyway,  ymmv, i'm set again.
