computer won't turn off --- let it run continuously, or - Microsoft Community


hello all,

about 3 months ago, dell laptop (running windows 10) lost ability turn off *except* holding down power button 5 seconds. i'm busy next couple months , won't have time try , research solution until april. in meantime, wanted ask: better leave laptop running months on end without powering off (it can "sleep" though), or power down holding power button down 5 seconds? i've heard powering down holding power button 5 seconds isn't computer, though can't imagine letting run continuously months on end either.

  1. what make , model of device?
  2. how shut down device? through start menu?
  3. are there error messages showing on end when attempting shut down?
  4. were there changes/updates device prior issue happening?
  5. what troubleshooting steps have done far?

WTouch_Message_Window app running in the background is preventing - Microsoft Community

Windows error No Certificate Available - Microsoft Community
