Editing the auto correct dictionary in Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

good morning,

is possible edit / add words auto correct dictionary in windows 10? thanks!

it possible, not faint hearted , not average user should attempt!

it involves editing .dic files can done in notepad or third party software editing dictionary files . . .

in file explorer, go to: %appdata%\microsoft\spelling\

the editable files are:

  • default.dic (added)
  • default.exc (excluded)
  • default.acl (autocorrect)

the files utf-16 le plain text must start appropriate byte order mark (bom)

each line contains word (in added , excluded word lists), or autocorrect pair words separated vertical bar ("|") (in autocorrect word list).

other .dic, .exc, , .acl files present in directory detected spell checking service , added user word lists.

these files considered read-only , not modified spell checking api.
