access denied - Microsoft Community


trying copy files y hard drive external drive on network.  i can read on external drive.  however, when try copy files, following:  "destination folder access denied.  you need permission perform action."  how fix this?

you need give permissions file/folder, follow steps below:

  • right-click file , select properties.
  • click on security tab.
  • click advanced in lower right.
  • in advanced security settings window pops up, click on owner tab.
  • click edit.
  • click other users or groups.
  • click advanced in lower left corner.
  • click find now.
  • scroll through results , double-click on current user account.
  • click ok of remaining windows except first properties window.
  • select user account list top , click edit.
  • select user account list top again , in pane below, check full control under allow, or control need.
  • you’ll security warning, click yes.

note: on files essential windows, you’ll “unable save permission changes… access denied” warning , cannot change it.
