Windows 10 Creator update failed but messed up my computer - Microsoft Community

a few days ago allowed creator update windows 10 desktop computer. update failed, stalling @ screen:

the computer did not restart on own after hour or of screen, rebooted it. reboot said returning previous restore point. appears have done so.

here's problem failed creator update left behind: desktop has ssd , before failed update attempt boot in 20 seconds. takes little on 6 minutes boot. see 6 minutes of splash screen has 4-pane window in upper center , dots going around in circle in lower center of screen.

what can 20 second boot?

blue screen errors caused several factors. 1 recent hardware change, factor compatibility between software , hardware components.

let's troubleshoot issue performing steps below:

method 1: run system file checker tool

system file checker utility in windows allows users scan corruptions in windows system files , restore corrupted files

1. press windows key + x, select command prompt (admin).

2. enter sfc/scannow(note space between "sfc" , "/").

if issue persists, proceed on method 2.

method 2: check settings fast startup

1. click on start, search power options , click on it.

2. on left pane, click on choose power buttons do.

3. under shutdown settings, check if fast startup turn on. if in case it's on, try turn off , see if there improvement on device's boot-up time.
