scammers had access to my mum's laptop - Microsoft Community

i appreciate advice. scammer pretending microsoft telephoned mother today 79 , not computer literate. persuaded wrong laptop , got turn on , go through many steps - typing in passwords, opening windows, displaying apparently 3000+ error messages....in end trying sell package fix problem. not sure information have or if have got download malicious software. there visible new shortcut on desktop called team viewer. can please advise correct steps secure computer? tips appreciated. thankyou.

the best way deal concern running full scan on computer. make sure disable other antivirus software installed on computer before running full scan using windows defender. able see if there threats in pc, kindly run full scan following steps below:

  1. type windows defender on search bar.
  2. click on windows defender.
  3. on right panel, click on radio button full.
  4. click on scan now.

the process take while finish. if windows defender doesn't detect threats, kindly run windows defender offline following steps in article: protect pc windows defender offline.

note: kindly uninstall program installed during said transaction suspicious caller before proceeding full scan. so, kindly follow steps in article: repair or remove programs in windows 10.
