App permissions system in Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

on windows 8, modern applications installed permissions (camera, location, etc.) off default.

then, when applications wanted access 1 of restricted features, ask user permission.

now, on windows 10, universal applications installed permissions on default, , user has go settings app turn them off.

it doesn't ask user enable permission when off , application tries access it.

my questions are:

  1. why change made? seems big regression impacts security , privacy. users aren't going remember check permissions in store before installing, or go settings app turn them off.
  2. what happens when update application, , new version requests new permission wasn't there before? windows set permission off, or silently grant permission application? because if does, that's major security issue!
