not have never had satisfactory reply why message, more importantly have not been able use windows 10 apps [this includes cortana, edge,or apps bought  by me microsoft] since message appeared on laptop in january   2017. in spite of lengthy communication  the microsoft helpdesk. on third attempt @ getting from the microsoft helpdesk in february year, gave up, , have been managing can,  using programme  view internet   , word processor. have discovered that i not administrator, cannot update administrator, , more annoyed can express here. has else had similar experience? , if did fix it?

    the error message you're getting might appear if using local account , not switched microsoft account, or haven't verified microsoft account, , two-step verification enabled on account. verify, there changes   made on pc prior this? troubleshooting steps you've made far? possible resolution, try following methods:
    method 1: log out , log in local account password/ microsoft account password again.
    method 2: run microsoft account troubleshooter    automatically resolve issue.
    method 3: verify identity on windows 10 pc.
      - go settings > accounts. you'll see  verify identity on pc link, , click  verify.
 - enter details needed, , kindly wait security code sent you.
 - once receive security code, click next, , enter code.
 - follow on-screen prompts complete verification process.
 
    to make user account admin, check ma. lau's answer in  post. follow steps provided, , try run updates again on pc.
    please update results. glad assist you.
